Drummer Tom Brewins plays like a crazed east London Dave Lombardo; bassist and vocalist Charlie Davis spews an uncontrollable amount of bile at only the slightest provocation; guitarist Wayne clings on for the ride like a pissed-up equestrian with one foot stuck in the saddle of a bolting horse. These three cuts go from blasting grind to manic thrash to frosty grimness, and whether the influence is Terrorizer, Municipal Waste or Converge, listeners are going to feel the full weight of the Wasted Death sceptic tank crushing their skulls. But to what kind of evil is this EP the prequel? Only time will tell."

When The Prequel To Evil dropped in March 2023, Wasted Death showed exactly what they were capable of — snarling, ferocious, and utterly no-holds-barred. The trio (Charlie Davis, Wayne Adams, Tom Brewins) distilled all their punk, thrash, grindcore and noise rock influences into three short blasts totaling around eight minutes, and every second feels like a challenge.

It kicks off with Shock Kollar, a blast of speed, feedback and rolling drums that grabs you by the throat. Then Sceptic Tank crawls in with tension, building quietly before exploding into chaos—low-slung bass, guitar snarls, vocals that launch themselves into rage. Finally, 0.0% Fun closes the EP with looming feedback, manic thrash bursts and a punk spirit that sneers at complacency.

Recorded and mixed at Bear Bites Horse Studio by Wayne Adams, the sound is gritty, lived-in, and heavy—but not sloppy. The three get all their pain, venom and urgency down without over-polishing; it’s raw in texture, fierce in delivery.

What makes The Prequel To Evil more than just a short EP is how it pushes Wasted Death beyond expectations. In under ten minutes, they manage to roam from grind-mad speed to slower, blackened menace, and every shift lands. It’s loud, it’s brutal, and it doesn’t let you off easy—but if you listen, there’s a twisted, thrilling reward in the chaos.
