Diesel King - Concrete Burial
![]()
When Concrete Burial landed in 2014, Diesel King instantly set themselves apart as one of the UK’s most uncompromising sludge outfits. This was not a tentative first step, but a fully-formed beast of an album—raw, aggressive, and unflinching in its heaviness. Packed with colossal riffs, snarling vocals and pummelling rhythm work, it became a defining statement and quickly earned its reputation as a sludge metal classic.
Every track hits with purpose. From the opener’s grinding groove through to the closing moments of pure sonic punishment, the record drags the listener into a world of grit and fury. Songs like The Grey, Mask of the Swine and Concrete Burial are built from thick, distorted riffing and venomous roars that channel the intensity of classic sludge but with a modern ferocity. The band’s mix of groove, hostility and unrelenting weight makes each song feel like an assault, but one you want to return to again and again.
Produced to capture the filth without losing clarity, Concrete Burial sounds massive—thick walls of guitars dominate, while the drums and bass hammer everything into the ground. The result is an album that feels both chaotic and tightly controlled, an unstoppable force rolling forward with venom and swagger.
Concrete Burial was more than just Diesel King’s debut full-length—it was a mission statement. The sound of a band unafraid to go heavier, darker and nastier than their peers, and in doing so, leaving a lasting mark on the UK sludge scene. Nearly a decade later, its reputation stands tall: a record that still feels dangerous, vital, and utterly crushing.
