The Brothers Keg - Folklore, Myths and Legends of The Brothers Keg

When Folklore, Myths & Legends of The Brothers Keg hit in September 2020, London trio The Brothers Keg introduced themselves not just with a debut album, but with a grand, genre-straddling panorama: stoner-doom fuzz, psychedelic passages, spoken word narration, and a mythic imagination. Released via APF Records and recorded, mixed and mastered at Bear Bites Horse Studios by Wayne Adams, the album feels like a high-concept adventure wrapped in crushing riffs and cosmic ambience.

From the solemn expanse of Moorsmen through the cinematic sweep of From The Records Of Arthur Shnee and into the majestic 12-minute Brahman, the record weaves moods of threat, mystery, awe, and catharsis. The narration (“The Sage of the Aether” on The Ice Melteth) adds layers of lore, framing the music not just as songs, but as chapters in a larger story.

The instrumentation is heavy and ambitious in equal measure. Thick, down-tuned guitars and weighty drums meet moments of space: synth washes, atmospheric interludes, and lead work that stretches into psychedelia without losing the power that drives the album. Brahman is especially notable for its epic pacing — meditative in parts, crushing in others — but every track contributes to the album’s momentum and mythic scale.

Visually and physically, the album’s presentation matches its ambition. Artwork by A. Ziritt, lavish physical formats including limited-edition pink vinyl, digipak CD, cassette runs and merch bundles, all emphasise this as a fully realised package, something to hold as much as to hear.

Folklore, Myths & Legends of The Brothers Keg is more than a debut: it’s a journey. It’s a record that stakes a claim for The Brothers Keg in the world of heavy music — one that doesn’t settle for simply being loud or crushing, but reaches for myth, story, spectacle. It’s become a standout in the APF catalogue, remembered for its scale, its riffs, and for taking listeners somewhere grand.
