Desert Storm - Omniscient

When Omniscient arrived in 2015, it marked a huge step forward for Desert Storm — the sound of a band coming into their own and delivering a record that stood tall among the UK’s heaviest. Crushing sludge riffs, thunderous rhythms and commanding vocals drive the album, but what makes it special is the balance of brute force and atmosphere. This is not just an album to batter the senses; it’s one that pulls you into its world and refuses to let go.

From the outset, Omniscient builds momentum with colossal grooves and a sense of urgency that never falters. The first half of the record is relentless, each track brimming with energy and conviction, while the second half shows Desert Storm’s ability to stretch their sound — layering mood, dynamics and texture into their trademark heaviness. Vocals roar with power, guitars twist between monolithic riffs and subtle flourishes, and the rhythm section drives everything forward with unstoppable weight.

What Omniscient achieved was more than just a collection of songs — it was a statement. It proved Desert Storm weren’t content to simply sit in the sludge/doom underground; they were carving out their own lane, blending intensity, groove and ambition into something compelling and memorable. To this day, Omniscient is remembered as a highlight in the band’s catalogue, an album that showed their potential fully realised and set the stage for the acclaimed records that followed.
