Mastiff - Wrank

Originally released in 2016, Wrank is Mastiff’s brutal debut album: a record that announced the band as one of the most uncompromising new forces in UK heavy music. Blending sludge, hardcore and extreme metal into something genuinely hostile and emotionally raw, Wrank left an immediate mark on the underground. 

The album was pressed on CD just once, back in 2016, where it sold out quickly and has remained unavailable in that format ever since. For many fans, it has become one of the most elusive releases in the band’s catalogue. 

To celebrate the album’s 10th anniversary, APF Records is proud to bring Wrank back on CD for the first time in a decade, available from 22nd January. This special edition features brand new artwork designed by Mastiff bassist Dan Dolby, giving the album a fresh visual identity while retaining its original, confrontational spirit. 

Wrank was the album that made APF Records want to work with Mastiff. Its sheer aggression, oppressive atmosphere and total lack of compromise made it impossible to ignore, marking the band out as something special from the very beginning. That connection led to APF signing Mastiff and releasing the BORK EP in 2017, followed by the crushing 2019 full-length Plague, further cementing the band’s reputation for intensity and unfiltered heaviness. 

Alongside the CD, a brand new Wrank 10th Anniversary t-shirt is also available. The shirt can be purchased on its own or as part of a CD + t-shirt bundle, giving fans the option to grab the music, the merch, or both. 

A decade on, Wrank remains a vital document of Mastiff’s origins - as raw, punishing and relevant now as it was on release.
