Barbarian Hermit – Redux EP Out 12th September
September 07, 2025

Barbarian Hermit have been part of the APF family for almost a decade, and we’re both proud and a little sad to announce their new 2-track Redux EP, landing on 12th September. Proud, because these two songs are absolute monsters. Sad, because the release also marks the beginning of a hiatus for one of Manchester’s heaviest and most loved bands.
The story of Redux started in an unlikely place: drummer Gaz Manning’s university coursework. Gaz needed to record and mix a full track as part of his music production studies, and the band decided Burn The Fire was the obvious choice. A staple of their live set for years, and coincidentally celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025, it was the perfect song to re-record. Fans may remember its original 2015 single release – complete with the infamous green-screen video featuring badgers in IKEA and flying cars. The Redux version finally features Gaz on drums and Rob “Bobby” Sutcliffe on bass, plus a brand new solo from guitarist Mike Regan.
While in the studio, Barbarian Hermit also laid down Del Toro, a track originally written with vocalist Si Scarlett back in 2016. Though it evolved into Beyond The Wall on their Solitude and Savagery album with new lyrics from Ed Campbell, the return of Scarlett to the band in 2021 brought the original version back into their live set. Now, for the first time, Del Toro has been captured as it was originally conceived.
Guitarist Adam Robertshaw sums it up best:
“Releasing these two songs as an EP became a fitting way to tie a bow around our time as a band, by celebrating our history and completing some unfinished business. Gaz did an excellent job of engineering these songs, Joe Clayton’s mastering at No Studio elevated them even further, and we finally got to collaborate with the brilliant Truespiltmilk Designs on the cover art."
To mark the release, Barbarian Hermit will play their final gig on 13th September at Rebellion in Manchester – a night that promises to be as loud, heavy and unforgettable as everything they’ve given us so far.

Redux isn’t just a stopgap - it’s a celebration, a nod to Barbarian Hermit’s past, and a gift to fans as the band takes a step back. If this is the last roar we hear from them for a while, it’s one hell of a send-off.
